W.K. Boyce, MMFT LPC CDAPA
"The finest compliment I could ever receive is a referral from my friends and clients"
Born in Midland, Texas, W.K. is the brother to three sisters, one older and two younger. Growing up, he lived with his parents and sisters down the street from his paternal grandmother, who influenced him greatly with a love of God and family. Early in life, W.K. realized he has a passion for helping others with their lives. While in high school, classmates often sought him out to talk with him about their problems. In college, W.K. decided to pursue full-time ministry to help people build their lives in relationship with God and in their marriage and family.
W.K. was in ministry full-time for 33 years serving in Kentucky, Texas, and Missouri. After spending much time counseling church members, he realized that, like most ministers, his capability was limited. He was not able to help members to the degree they needed. So he returned to graduate school and received his Master of Marriage and Family Therapy degree. He has now been a Licensed Professional Counselor for twenty-three years. The last 17 years in ministry, he served as the director of a counseling ministry for a local church. For 21 years he served as an adjunct professor at College of the Ozarks teaching classes on Marriage and Family and Mental Health in the Psychology department. Today he is the only marriage friendly therapist in Springfield Missouri as recognized by the National Registry of Marriage Friendly Therapists (www.marriagefriendlytherapists.com), and a Certified Diplomate of the American Psychotherapy Association
In 2006, W.K. established the Springfield Marriage and Family Institute, LLC to...
- Offer Christian based professional marriage and family counseling to people of Springfield and all of southwest Missouri
- Provide seminars and workshops on marriage and family
- Provide a facility where graduates can intern and receive supervision for licensure
W.K. and his wife Patricia have been married 43 years. They have 5 children and 10 grandchildren. He enjoys trout fishing, collecting Abraham Lincoln memorabilia as well as spending time with the family and friends. Most of all, he enjoys date night with Patricia every week.
Chris Charino, MS LPC
I have lived all over the Midwest and I am glad to say that I have found a home in Springfield. As a native of Chicago, I have been involved, from a young age, in issues surrounding diversity and conflict. I have witnessed in my own life and others around me, the pain and destruction that the failure of marriage and the family can cause. I have experienced much in my life, it has made me stronger, and has given me an in depth level of understanding. As a professional I provide counseling based on Christian principles which can enable real life solutions. I believe in the systemic nature of the family and how each member shares responsibility and power in the health and functioning of the family as a system, having benefited from similar advice and counsel through the years. I work with most types of counseling issues but I specialize in working with teens, couples, and young families that may include high levels of distress.
I am now happily married with three sons and one daughter. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking, running, and have successfully written and recorded several Christian Hip Hop albums that can be downloaded on iTunes. I am profoundly grateful to God the Father for the natural gifts and abilities given to me and the professional training I've received that allow me this opportunity to listen, learn, and teach and serve people.
Robyn Hall, SMFT
Not all superheroes wear capes. Most look like you and me, hiding in plain sight. But, when you need them and look carefully, you find them . Robyn Hall, SMFT and her husband are these people.
Robyn grew up in Michigan, and has always worked in jobs helping others. Her path led her into training for youth and ministry, with a future toward the army to become a chaplain. Her direction changed when she met the man that would be her husband. This dynamic duo then moved to Missouri in 2009 and started a family. He, a local firefighter and US veteran, and she, spend their lives helping others. Robyn continued her work with kids in youth services. Throughout her time in Springfield, she also had the opportunity to work with the homeless population. From youth to the homeless, she’s seen the disastrous effects of broken homes and families. She went back to school and completed her Masters in Marriage & Family Therapy. From her internship, through to graduation, she has worked with the Springfield Marriage and Family Institute healing kids, adults, and saving families.
Their family keeps busy, but, they love the time they spend together hunting, fishing, swimming and being outside. In the evenings and weekends it’s dance competition and BMX biking with her daughter and son.
You’ll see no capes and logos, but you see the difference they make in everyone’s life they touch. While her husband spends his days fighting fires and helping people with physical emergencies, Robyn heals the very heart of people, the soul of the individual and family! Both agree, the sooner you address the issue, the easier it is to “put the fire out” and the less damage to restore.
